As instructed by Vagrantc:

Install sdm on the server, and sdm-terminal on the thin-client and then configure /opt/ltsp/i386/etc/sdm/sdm.config with an ssh key, set autologin to yes, and add that key to your user(s) ~/.ssh/authorized_keys on the server
