LTSP Breezy Test
Back in April, the Ubuntu team invited several of us LTSP guys down to the Ubuntu developers meeting in Sydney, Australia, to work with them, to figure out how LTSP could be integrated into the next release of Ubuntu, called "Breezy". This is the very first
MueKow implementation.
Since that time, the Ubuntu team has been working very hard, and they've accomplished an amazing thing. LTSP in Ubuntu is really looking good.
Now, they've got an ISO image that they are calling
Colony 3. This is the first Breezy milestone to contain the LTSP integration.
At this point, we'd like to get as many people testing this as possible.
It should be a simple matter of downloading the ISO image, loading it onto a machine, and configuring LTSP.
This is NOT ready for production servers, use at your own risk!!!
Here's the link for the Ubuntu web page where you can download the ISO image:

Once you've installed Breezy, you might find some useful information on the Ubuntu
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ThinClientHowto
PXE support is enabled by default. If you want to use an Etherboot client, you'll need to do a simple update after installing breezy, by doing this:
- sudo apt-get update
- sudo apt-get upgrade
- sudo ltsp-update-kernels
Keep in mind that the
MueKow implementation of LTSP has some significant differences, although much of what you already know about LTSP still applies. At this point very little documentation exists, but the IRC channel is a great resource for help.
We'd really like to get as many people testing this as possible, to shake out any bugs before the final release in October.
If you have any problems with the LTSP part of the Breezy, please come by the
#ltsp irc channel on
irc.freenode.net
Thanks,
Jim McQuillan of LTSP
