The smbldap-installer script makes it easy to add Samba/LDAP to your server. In about 3-5 minutes you can have a fully functioning Samba/LDAP server. At this point the script if optimized for K12LTSP 4.41, FC4, and Ubuntu (Hoary & Breezy), and Edubuntu. You can find out much more and download the script here.
