Programming computers is a process of coercion. You coerce the machine into doing it your way, hopefully with some degree of finesse. I really don't like to lose to the machine.

I started dealing with computers in 1981. Things were simpler then!

The Air Force introduced me to UNIX and the Internet in 1992 as an electronic mail host administrator. Watching the Internet grow up has been, well, interesting. Linux made things fun again!

One of the lessons of history has been that things don't get used the way they were designed to be used and they stick around a lot longer than anyone figures they will. The Internet and the Web are great examples of this. So, systems need to be made with flexibility and maintainability in mind.

Hey, I'm beginning to think up some rants about Windows and HTML. This isn't my 'blog so I'll leave off here.

Happy Trails!
